3rd Heritage Event of Andévalo

< return

Was held in Puebla de Guzmán and our Herrerias Association had the special task of working with the City Councils of Andévalo and Puebla de Guzmán.

They were dedicated to the Andévalo landscape and accompanied by two exhibitions of paintings: one of Andévalo landscape paintings located in the Hall of Nature and another dedicated to the world of Sebastián García Vázquez located in the house of the painter in no. 72, El Cabezo Street.

In organizing this second exhibition, the Herrerías Association played the main role with the help of artist Fernando Dominguez Rivas. It was composed of paintings that are usually kept in private houses, with others provided by the heirs from their homes in Huelva and Seville. The paintings of D. Sebastian that are in the possession of neighbours in Puebla were kindly lent to us for the occasion.

The Herrerias Association, with permission of Garcia-Gomez family, discovered a ceramic painting, showing a self-portrait of D. Sebastian, which was in the front of the house of no. 72, Cabezo Street. The painter of this ceramic painting was Antonio Linares de Villamartin (Cadiz).

Antonio Rodríguez Cruz, Antonio de Huelva, delighted us with a performance of songs of Andévalo, accompanying himself on flute and drum, together with his group of keyboard, cello and guitar.

The conference ended with a meal of stew in the house next to the church of the Virgen de la Peña, the Queen of Andévalo, in the Cerro del Aguila.
